One simple example of Zo Ee's evolving language skills is the word "cat" . Although Zo Ee can recognize the word "cat" months ago (before she reached 1 years old) but being able to pronounce it is a different challenge. Initially, she chose the easier sound of the two, “mao” rather than the word "cat" to represent cat. Each time she sees a cat, she will say “mao” . As her number of sounds improved, she is able to say “cat” whenever she sees one, and thus “mao” will be the sound that a cat makes. So, she will say “cat” while pointing at the cat before telling us that a cat says “mao…” . And now, she can pronounce it perfectly, “meow….” just like us.
