Zo Ee continues to amaze me the whole of last week. Daddy and I sees tremendous improvement in Zo Ee, we are wondering whether "is it the exposure travelling oversea with new environment and adaptability or she is indeed a big girl now once she hits one year old?"
With my recent encountered with her stronger reading skill (few days ago - blog on natural phonics), I couldn’t resist to test on her again. (Bad mummy huh!) So I decided to show Zo Ee some flash cards (put away since one month ago), and flawlessly, she could pick up all the cards correctly ; be it showing her pictures only or words only for her to chose. Unbelievable!!! She got every cards correctly again! Though I know that she knows many words (at least 200 written words) but I didn’t expect her to know all her flashcards inside out (pictures and words) too from all the 6 categories - transport, fruits & vegetables, daily necessities, food, animals and our body. This explains why she had lost interest in these cards a month ago, because she already knows them all.
So with these flashcards, 6 categories x 40cards (each category) = 240cards , Zo Ee knows at least 440words now (or she already knows them long time ago?). Moreover, since I stopped showing her those cards one month ago, this experience here confirmed that Zo Ee can remember those cards well even after one month apart. Meaning that babies do have better memories than we thought of them! And it is so true that very young children(babies) are far more capable of learning than we ever imagined.
