Learning is so fun - 12 months old

Zo Ee at 12months 1week old (18/4/2009)

I bought Zo Ee these Alphabets flashcards long time ago and started showing to her around 7weeks old. At that time, I have no knowledge about Dr. Rober Titzer (baby can read Visual programme) or Dr Glenn Doman. It was by pure accident that I found little Zo Ee loves those cards.

When Zo Ee was about 7 weeks old, she started refusing to sleep at night. Many sleepless nights for daddy and mummy made us tried every method we could think of to put Zo Ee to sleep. Nothing works.

Then one night, while daddy snoozing on the bed and Zo Ee started to cry around 2am, I grabbed this new box of flashcards, hoping to distract her with the pictures so to quiet her down as not to wake daddy up. To my surprise, she immediately stopped crying and attentively looking at every card shown to her. Merely 30minutes later, she was so tired and dozed off in bed. Wow! Happy mummy could finally go to bed. And that’s how I started using these flashcards to make her go to bed at night until her sleep pattern readjusted back to normal. Even after that, I continued to show them to her for most of the days for another few months.

When we bought her 5 new sets of flashcards, these cards were put away for months. And only recently when Zo Ee was tired of all her new flashcards, I brought these old cards out again. Immediately, we could see the joy in Zo Ee having fun with them again. Few days later and by accident, we found that she indeed already knows all the words and colours on those cards.

We are not surprised that she can recognize words (as she already knows many-at least 200words at this age) But knowing every single word for these flashcards is something puzzling us; when exactly she learned them, while she was less than 5months old or is it just these few days? But for the past few days, we were just having fun and no serious learning with these cards! Hmm...

(Words: apple, bear, cat, dog, elephant, fish, giraffe, house, ice-cream, jelly beans, kite, lion, monkey, nest, octopus, pig, queen, ring, snake, train, umbrella, violin, whale, x-ray, yarn and zebra.)

From this video, you can see that learning is so fun for Zo Ee. But please excuse “daddy’s feet (in the background) in this video” as this is not a plan video session. It’s purely another family session before bed, but couldn’t resist capturing the excited Zo Ee and her funny elephant sound!.
