Gifted! - 16months old.

Zo Ee at 16months 4weeks old. (10/9/2009)

Comments

“Clever Girl!” This is a normal comment we used to hear from strangers when they do hear little Zo Ee naming objects/colours , describing their actions (walking, running, writing, reading, etc) and trying to interact with them, calling them jie-jie, aunty, uncle, ge-ge, etc. So daddy and mummy are kind of getting used to this comment already.

Last weekend while in the library, a lady with a teenage daughter commented that little Zo Ee was very smart while clapping her hands in excitement upon hearing little Zo Ee being so articulate and able to communicate herself so well. She overheard little Zo Ee describing the pictures in the book, “blue butterfly”, “colourful”, “big eyes” , “wow” and was telling me that the lady’s daughter sitting next to us was writing, “jie-jie writing”.

And today, while we were in a lift in a shopping mall, again little Zo Ee made a comment on this middle-age man’s shirt, telling us “stripe” while pointing with her finger before further describing that the shirt was brown in coloured, “brown”. This man gave little Zo Ee a thumb up for her detail description. And just before we were to leave the lift, little Zo Ee was telling the man, “lift” and Mummy replied her that “yes, we are in a lift now.” To our surprised, this man made a comment, “Confirmed gifted!” He strengthen his comment by explaining to us that little Zo Ee is so young yet she is already so articulate and observant. Basically, we were a little shock to hear such a comment for the first time. But what this man had just heard was merely a fraction of Zo Ee's vast vocabulary and these three words (description) already has been frequently said/used by Zo Ee even before she turned 15-months old.

And just now, little Zo Ee was telling us to switch on the light, “Please, switch on light.” And she was telling us, “good night”just before bed (before we said good night to her) . Sometimes upon hearing the way little Zo Ee expressing herself, I myself am amazed too. And Zo Ee’s latest phrase which is also my favourite is; she will be telling herself to choose one if she is given more than a choice, “Choose one.”, before telling herself again, “Which one?” and when she has decided, she will pick up her choice before finally saying “This one.”
